PeacePlayers Middle East involves more than 500 Palestinian and Israeli youth each year, ages 6-25, in year-round and multi-year basketball training, conflict resolution education, and leadership development activities in Israel and the West Bank. Recently, former NBA star Ray Allen traveled to Israel, where — among many other stops — he visited Jerusalem’s PeacePlayers. At the event, Allen gave a motivational speech to the young players, which was translated into both Hebrew and Arabic.

Quote: “The sport teaches people that you shouldn’t worry about where you come from as much. What’s important is who you are in the moment and where you hope to go. It gets you to open up and want to get to know the person you’re playing alongside. You learn to build a bridge, not a wall. You create a better society because the sport binds you.”
